  • How do I access RSA services?

    Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), Ontario’s centralized access point for adult developmental services, provides access to all RSA services. RSA services have specific eligibility criterion and the DSO will make referrals where necessary and eligible. To find a local DSO office, visit the DSO website at www.dsontario.ca and click on “Find Your Local DSO”.
    The sole exception to contacting the DSO for access to RSA services is Dual Diagnosis Justice Case Management (DDJCM). This program can be accessed by contacting RSA directly at rsaadmin@woodstockhospital.ca .

  • Does RSA offer services in French ?

    At the time of engagement in  RSA services, French language services can be requested and will be accommodated.
    Also, this website offers translation of all information into French.
    As a Service Provider in Southwestern Ontario, it is recognized that RSA services are provided in designated French Language communities. RSA will respect the language diversity within the communities it operates and ensure the agency meets requirements of the Ministry of Community, Children and Social Services in regards to equal access to service by French speaking citizens.

  • I have all of my paperwork/intake package completed and submitted to RSA. How long do I have to wait for service?

    RSA maintains a prioritized waitlist for clinical services including behaviour consultation and psychological assessment. Service is initiated based on need and clinical capacity within the RSA team.
    While on the waitlist, RSA will reach out periodically to seek an update on current circumstances and needs; those on the waitlist are encouraged to reach out to RSA to advise of any changes to circumstances from the time of original referral.

  • RSA closed my file, but I want to get services again. How can I re-engage?

    Behaviour Support Services: If you have recently been closed to RSA’s clinical Behaviour Support Services, you can contact RSA directly within 6 months of your file closure date: rsaadmin@woodstockhospital.ca.  If you would like to re-engage in services, and your file has been closed for more than 6 months, you can contact your local DSO Office.     Dual Diagnosis Justice Case Management: Once  a referral has been completed and closed, should there be a requirement to re-engage with DDJCM a new referral would be required
    Enhanced Community Response – Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), Ontario’s centralized access point for adult developmental services, initiates all ECR referrals, including re-referrals, if eligibility criterion is met. It is important to ensure the DSO is aware of your unique needs and circumstances so that they can ensure timely engagement of ECR when appropriate.   • Can you help me with a residential placement?

    RSA cannot offer support in obtaining a residential placement. Residential Services are accessed through Ontario’s centralized access point for adult developmental services, Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).   • Can you help me access Passport?

    RSA cannot offer support to access Passport Services; however, you can access Passport by contacting your local Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) office:

  • What age group do you provide services to?

    RSA provides services to adults, aged 18+.

  • What should I expect during behaviour consultation?

    You can expect RSA’s Behaviour Consultation services to be short term and consultative in nature; it does not involve providing direct support. The Community Consultant is the first point of direct contact who will also work directly in collaboration with the individual, with the purpose of determining goal(s) or skills to be developed that are significant(meaningful) to the individual, and may serve to enhance their overall quality of life.; In addition when clinically necessary, and  based on a thorough assessment of needs and goals, RSA will engage with family members and/or those within the cirecle of support for the person and potentially additional members of RSA’s  interdisciplinary clinical service team.  ”We regularly provide recommendations in the form of written protocols or behaviour support plans, and provide training to those who will be implementing and collecting data on the plans. We then interpret the data and share summaries with the individual and their support team in order to ensure the plan is evaluated, monitored and faded over time. Our goal is to help to build capacity within the circle of support for the person, including building capacity with family members and direct support professionals to support the person in their current environment and support structure.
