Description: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a complex, lifelong, and often misunderstood diagnosis. This session will explore difficulties that are commonly experienced by people with FASD and provide tools and strategies that can be used to offset some of those challenges and improve their quality of life. Particular attention will be paid to the experiences of people with FASD as well as those who support them.
Learning Outcomes: Understand the diagnosis of FASD, including related primary and secondary difficulties, and how these can impact a person’s day-to-day life across various domains (including medical, psychological, social, and adaptive functioning). Identify ways to better support the challenges associated with FASD on a day-to-day basis. Best practices, anecdotal evidence, and practical strategies and tools will be discussed.
